The NMMU Trust

The NMMU Trust (fundraising foundation of the university) has grown from strength to strength over the past 10 years. Read about some of their more recent projects.

Finance

“We’ve made students happy over the 10 years”; “We look after 27 000 students and their parents and sponsors” and “We pay staff salaries”.

Apart from these opinions, Finance staff at NMMU are proud of a number of milestones. These include:

  • NMMU’s assets have grown from R460m in 2005 to R1bn in 2015
  • Financial Aid has grown from R21.4m in 2005 to R191.3m in 2015
  • Procurement has grown their black empowerment component from 8.36 to 19.04 over the past 10 years

 

Campus Health Services 

Campus Health Services is especially proud of their staff growth over the past 10 years.

From just seven staff members in 2005, the institution’s health service provider now has 22 staff members whose knowledge and skills have also grown.

Other highlights for Campus Health Services include:

  • Becoming an anti-retroviral site in 2010
  • Increasing the number of staff and students on anti-retroviral treatment over the past five years from five to 161 at present
  • Becoming an accredited-TB site
  • Receiving European Union funding of R3m towards the upgrading of clinics on five campuses
  • The nutrition project currently feed some 500 needy students a year, thanks in part to sponsorship of R300 000 annually by Tiger Brands and Foschini.
