Madibaz Day is part of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s 10th birthday celebrations.

It’s our big bash. It’s for staff and students and it’s an opportunity to reflect upon and recognise all that has been achieved since we were established in January 2005. And to celebrate!

Madibaz Day will take place on Monday 11 May and consist of two parts - an expo and a concert.

The Expo

This expo will give staff a chance to reflect on their division's own 10 years - the highs, the lows, its staff, its achievements and the way forward - and then share it with the rest of the university. (Yes, it’s your opportunity to brag!)

This will take place from 11am to 3pm in a show-and-share format in the Indoor Sports Centre, using the same infrastructure as Open Day. Support Services and other units which are not traditionally part of the annual weekend outreach to schools are also included in the Expo.

We want to staff and students share in each other's success and be inspired towards the next ten years.

We are invited to view the stalls between 11am and 3pm, as work commitments allow.

The Concert

From 3pm in the adjacent NMMU Sports Stadium, the University will host a concert starring our own talented staff and students. The Vice-Chancellor will also mark our first successful decade with a short address. His talk to staff and students will reflect on the past 10 years and highlight plans for the future.

Enter party spirit

You are encouraged to wear your t-shirts, vie for prizes and bring along your picnic baskets to enjoy the two-hour concert in the company of your work colleagues and classmates.

Let's celebrate! Let's make this a day to remember for tomorrow.
