NEARLY 400 Grade 11 learners had a serious think about their possible careers at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s future-focused Grade 11 Accounting Winter School this week (7 to 9 July).

A UNIQUE exhibition featuring photographs of the country’s best-loved former leader, Nelson Mandela, by one of its best-known photojournalists, Dr Peter Magubane, is a fitting way to mark the 10th anniversary of the only university that bears Mandela’s name.

NMMU's School of Accoutning gave their 2015 Winter School for Grade 12 learners a little twist this year!

The advent of social media has completely changed the way we interact and engage with one another. Filters and hashtags have become somewhat of a lingua franca. As millennials, we are often referred to as hyper-taskers and our teenagers are now screenagers. We live in the information age, an age where one chooses to be ignorant as information is readily available with a click of a button.

In the spirit of our 10-year celebrations, 21 years of democracy and the ongoing transformation debate, NMMU is to continue its Courageous Conversations.

Madibaz Day 11 May
22/04/2015

The Madibaz Day Expo will give NMMU staff a chance to show and share what they do within every aspect of their work at the University.

From Admissions through to Zoology, each component of NMMU is being given the opportunity to reflect on what it has achieved in 10 years and share it will the rest of the university during the exhibition on Monday 11 May in the Indoor Centre from 11am to 3pm.

This is a call to all NMMU staff and students to come out in large numbers to support our own international students and their fellow countrymen and women in a silent march against xenophobia.

Almost 8 percent of NMMU's 27 000 students come from outside of South Africa.

NMMU will be joined by the wider community, including the Metro Mayor Fihla and Provincial Premier Masualle in a show of solidarity across the province for our African compatriots.
